Optomap retinal imaging is an advanced, non-invasive way to get detailed, ultra-wide views of the inside nerve tissue/peripheral retina. This high-resolution image captures up to 80% of your retina in a single scan, giving our doctors a much broader look than traditional imaging methods.
Optomap helps us spot and track potential concerns such as Diabetic Retinopathy, retinal tears or detachments, Macular Degeneration, Glaucoma, and more. It is a powerful tool for both routine eye exams and ongoing monitoring, allowing us to deliver thorough, proactive care and help keep your eyes healthy for the long term.

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a quick, non-invasive scan that provides a highly detailed, cross-sectional view of key structures in your eye — including the Macula and Optic Nerve with traditional automated OCT imaging and automated OCT-A for instantaneous vascular & structure information. We can also image the cornea and front chamber angle for Glaucoma risk. OCT advanced imaging allows us to detect microscopic changes (measured in microns) and closely monitor conditions such as Glaucoma, Macular Degeneration, Diabetic Retinopathy, Macular Edema, and Plaquenil (Hydroxychloroquine) toxicity. OCT is one of the most effective tools for identifying Glaucoma and Macular degeneration early, often before any noticeable vision changes occur, helping us protect your sight and preserve long-term eye health.
Ask our team about adding an OCT scan to your next eye exam at West 5 Optometry to take a proactive step in safeguarding your vision.
The Humphrey Visual Field Analyzer has been a trusted cornerstone of optometric care for decades, designed to measure and map your peripheral (side) vision — an essential part of understanding how your eyes function beyond what you see straight ahead. At West 5 Optometry, this test helps us detect subtle vision changes that may not be noticeable in everyday life but can be critical for early diagnosis and ongoing monitoring.
Humphrey Visual Field testing plays a key role in managing conditions such as Glaucoma, Plaquenil (Hydroxychloroquine) toxicity, stroke-related vision loss, neurological concerns, and even tumor-related visual changes. By tracking patterns over time, we are able to monitor progression, guide treatment decisions, and help protect your long-term vision.
This test is also commonly required for occupational and medical purposes, including police and firefighter exams, as well as Ministry of Transportation (MTO) vision assessments. Our team ensures the process is comfortable, clear, and efficient, while delivering accurate, reliable results you can trust.
Ask our team about scheduling a Humphrey Visual Field test at your next appointment to take a proactive step in protecting your vision.
Pressure measurement is an important screening test for Glaucoma that is performed during all routine examinations at West 5 Optometry. The I-Care tonometer is a quick, gentle, and non-invasive way to measure the pressure in your eyes. Unlike the traditional “air puff” test, the I-Care is comfortable, fast, and easy, making it a preferred option for many of our patients.
Measuring your eye pressure helps us detect early changes that could put your vision at risk. If you prefer the I-Care method over the air puff, simply let our team know when you are being pre-tested, and we will be happy to accommodate you.

West 5 Optometry’s newest technological advancement is the Topcon Myah Optical Biometer and Corneal Topographer. This device provides detailed measurements of the eye that are beneficial in monitoring Myopia, Keratoconus and other diseases as well as improving contact lens fitting. It maps the shape of the cornea and measures the length of the eye, allowing us to better understand each patient’s unique eye structure. The Myah is especially valuable for myopia (nearsightedness) management in children, as it allows us to accurately track eye growth over time and detect early changes that may indicate progressing myopia. By monitoring these measurements closely, we can recommend treatments that help slow myopia progression and support long-term eye health.
